Privacy Policy

What we collect, why, and your choices — written for Canada (PIPEDA).

Last updated June 4, 2026

Draft for review. Bracketed items (entity, province, contact addresses) must be finalized before launch.

1. Our approach

[LEGAL ENTITY NAME] ("Psalmr") collects only what we need to run the platform, tells you why, and lets you access or delete your data. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

2. What we collect

  • Account: your name/display name, email, and login credentials (passwords are handled by our auth provider, not stored in plain text by us).
  • Artist profile and content: the bio, tags, images, music, and posts you choose to publish.
  • Payment: support amounts, status, and your customer/subscription identifiers. Card numbers are handled by Stripe — we don't store your full card details.
  • Usage: basic technical data needed to operate and secure the service.

3. Cookies, including referral tracking

We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to operate the service. We also use a referral cookie so an artist gets credit when someone joins through their share link:

  • psalmr_ref — set when you arrive via an artist's referral link (e.g. /@artist?ref=…). It's an HttpOnly cookie that lasts about 30 days, stores only the referral code, and lets us attribute a sign-up and conversion to the referring artist. It is not used for advertising.

4. How we use your information

  • to provide the platform — accounts, publishing, support, and unlocking access;
  • to process payments and pay out artists (via Stripe);
  • to send transactional email (welcome, receipts, new-supporter and new-post notices) via our email provider, respecting your notification preferences; and
  • to keep the service secure and meet legal obligations.

5. Who we share it with

We share data with the service providers that run the platform — our hosting and database provider, Stripe (payments/payouts), and our email provider — only as needed to deliver the service. Some providers may process data outside Canada, where it can be subject to that country's laws. We don't sell your personal information.

6. Retention

We keep your information while your account is active and as needed for legal, tax, and accounting purposes (for example, payment records). When it's no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

7. Your rights and choices

You can access or update your account information in Settings, manage notification preferences, cancel support at any time, and request deletion of your account and associated personal data. To make a privacy request or ask a question, contact privacy@psalmr.com.

8. Changes

We may update this policy; we'll change the "last updated" date and, for material changes, give reasonable notice.
