Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Psalmr for using the platform.

Last updated June 4, 2026

Draft for review. Bracketed items (entity, province, contact addresses) must be finalized before launch.

1. Who we are

Psalmr is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] ("Psalmr", "we", "us"). Psalmr is a patronage platform that lets fans ("patrons") financially support independent gospel artists ("artists") through recurring support and one-time love-offerings, and unlock supporter-only music and stories in return.

By creating an account, applying to become an artist, or supporting an artist, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use Psalmr.

2. Eligibility

You must be the age of majority in your province or territory to create an account or make a payment. You're responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity under your account.

3. Artists: independence and rights warranty

Psalmr is for independent, rights-holding artists. To apply and to publish content as an artist, you represent and warrant, on an ongoing basis, that:

  • you are an independent artist and are not signed to a record label for the music you upload to Psalmr;
  • you own or control all rights (including master and publishing/songwriting rights, or have the necessary licences) in everything you upload — audio, artwork, images, and text;
  • your content does not infringe anyone else's copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights; and
  • you will keep this true for as long as the content is on Psalmr, and you'll remove anything that stops being true.

4. How payments and the platform fee work

Payments are processed by Stripe. Psalmr does not store your full card details. Artists are paid out through Stripe Connect and must complete Stripe's onboarding (including identity and bank details) before they can receive support.

Artists keep 90% of the face amount a patron chooses to give (the patron's gift); Psalmr's platform fee is 10% of that gift. Patrons cover Stripe's card-processing fees, which are added on top of the gift rather than deducted from it, so processing does not reduce the artist's share. A small payout fee (approximately 0.5%) is borne by the artist to cover Stripe's payout costs. Amounts are charged in the artist's settlement currency (Canadian dollars for Canadian artists) unless stated otherwise.

Artists are responsible for their own taxes on the support they receive. Psalmr may be required to report certain payments.

5. Patron support and access

Recurring support is pay-what-you-want above a stated minimum and renews automatically until cancelled. Supporter access lasts while your support is active. One-time love-offerings are gifts and don't grant ongoing access. See the Refund Policy for cancellation and refunds.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • upload content you don't have the rights to, or that is unlawful, hateful, or infringing;
  • attempt to download, scrape, redistribute, or circumvent access controls on supporter-only content;
  • abuse, defraud, or attempt to reverse, charge back in bad faith, or launder payments; or
  • interfere with the security or operation of the platform.

7. Content ownership and licence

Artists keep ownership of the content they upload. You grant Psalmr a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, stream, display, and promote your content on and through the platform for the purpose of operating Psalmr. This licence ends when you remove the content or your account, except for copies we must retain to meet legal or operational obligations.

8. Copyright and takedowns

We respond to copyright complaints. If you believe content on Psalmr infringes your rights, see our Copyright & Takedown page for how to send a notice. We may remove content and suspend or terminate repeat infringers.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or remove an artist or content that breaches these Terms (including the independence and rights warranty), or where we're required to by law. You can stop using Psalmr at any time; patrons can cancel support at any time.

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Psalmr is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't be limited by law. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the platform fees we earned on your transactions in the 12 months before the claim.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of [PROVINCE] and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.

12. Changes and contact

We may update these Terms; we'll change the "last updated" date and, for material changes, give reasonable notice. Questions: legal@psalmr.com.
